Those Hours

Rain, on a tin roof, measure

out the length of a movement,

lay a foundation.

                            Small Stream,

in the distance, carry strings

within current.

                         Bare Feet, feel

soft wet leaves upon concrete.

Steps, bring me

                          a moment, next

to You, side by side not yet

touching.

                 Gentle, Early Sun,

rest lightly on us. Morning:

hearing

              your laugh in my head

seeing your mouth in smile

awakening in

                       your bed

feeling your arm under my

head your breath on

                                 my neck your

hand within mine moving my

thumb along

         your finger curled

around mine holding a brief

moment:

                arms held each other.

My eyes

               closed, as

                               I fell back

into You,

                 to Sleep,

                                 to Dream.
